Qualifications
Foreign English Teacher Qualifications
Qualifications for becoming a foreign english teacher are as follows. Whether applying for a new or renewed contract, according to Taiwanese government regulations, you must meet the following identity requirements:
1. Valid Passport:
The passport should be valid for at least half a year to one year from the beginning of the employment period. The official language should be English, and the applicant should be at least 20 years old.
2. Educational Certificates:
The graduation certificate should be issued by a school listed in the reference list of foreign universities and colleges recognized by the Taiwan Ministry of Education. The degree should not be obtained through distance learning.
Note: If the educational certificate is issued in countries such as Afghanistan, Algeria, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Myanmar, Cambodia, Cameroon, Cuba, Ghana, Iran, Iraq, Laos, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Senegal, Somalia, Sri Lanka, Syria, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, etc., it must be authenticated by the relevant Taiwanese overseas representative office.
3. Teacher Certificate:
The teacher certificate should be an official qualification for teaching issued by the national government, and its validity should be at least one year.
Note: If the teacher certificate is issued in countries such as Afghanistan, Algeria, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Myanmar, Cambodia, Cameroon, Cuba, Ghana, Iran, Iraq, Laos, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Senegal, Somalia, Sri Lanka, Syria, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, etc., it must be authenticated by the relevant Taiwanese overseas representative office.
4. National Criminal Record Certificate:
The issuance date of the certificate of good conduct should be within six months before the application receipt date. If the application period expires, the foreign teacher should voluntarily assist in reapplying to facilitate the agency in applying for a work permit.
Note: If the criminal record certificate is issued in countries such as Afghanistan, Algeria, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Myanmar, Cambodia, Cameroon, Cuba, Ghana, Iran, Iraq, Laos, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Senegal, Somalia, Sri Lanka, Syria, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, etc., it must be authenticated by the relevant Taiwanese overseas representative office.
5. Other Documents:
In case the names on foreign documents do not match the passport, such as educational certificates, teacher certificates, criminal record certificate, etc., additional supporting documents proving the same identity (e.g., birth certificate, marriage certificate, divorce certificate, driver's license, social security code, etc.) should be provided.
